Hello and welcome to my site, The Arachnan Wars. This site is a personal project to gather pictures of and develop stories behind my collections of Warhammer miniatures. The inspiration for this site comes from Kenton Kilgore and his fantastically inspiring website "The Fighting Tigers of Veda" which has driven me to create and develop my own little corner of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. I highly suggest you check out Mr Kilgores work as it is simply amazing, and some of my models are featured on his site (Liger Exiles and Veda Knight)
About me;
I am Max Wyatt and I live in England I love animals and enjoy a good meal, I have been interested in "small things" from a very early age, such as Airfix, Model Railways and Lego bricks. However it was not until I was 8 that I got sucked into the world of Warhammer. My Parents bought me the "Assualt on Black Reach" starter set in the hopes that me learning the rules would improve my maths skills (it did) From there onwards I was hooked, I spent hours painting the Orks from the set with the limited colours I had although I was a very poor painter back then and only consider myself to have improved slightly. I did not paint the Space Marines as they were too tricky and were given to my brother. We would have many enjoyable games on the kitchen table and living room floor fighting battles to the death with the tiny plastic men, my father would often act as a sort of referee although he understood the rules probably no better than we did.

The first separate box of Warhammer I bought was the plastic Gretchin set as it was the only one I could afford. My father however did sometimes buy huge joblots of old Warhammer off eBay when he could get it at a good price. These lots were mostly comprised of (hundreds) of 2nd edition plastic Gretchin, broken Space Marines and the odd metal model. I look back fondly on these days when the hobby was new to me and there was so much to discover.
As I grew a little older I strayed away from Warhammer and went back to playing with Lego and other such silly things as I was never happy with my standard of painting. Then when I was around 12-13 I got back into the hobby big time, saved for months to buy a Chaos Daemon army and started going to game at my local GW to game every weekend. I was at last content with my painting standard even if it was still very basic. I don't have any photos left of my daemon army but it was my pride and Joy at the time. Pink horrors painted in banana yellow, Flamers, a burning chariot, a seeker chariot, Daemonettes with gore covered claws, Plaguebearers and Plague Drones led by a Night Lords daemon prince called Skyfoogle. It wasn't a very big army, nor a very powerful army but it was my first proper army, I later sold it to buy space marines which I also later sold but that is just the way I was back then.
Now I have been collecting and painting Warhammer for over 10 years and I don't regret a single second of it.
